It’s All About the Kids.
A San Diego foundation closing the weekend food gap for kids who would otherwise go without, and a cause The Buzz is proud to stand behind.

For most kids, Friday afternoon is the best part of the week. For a child who relies on school meals, it is the start of two days with nothing reliable to eat.
That is the gap It’s All About the Kids® Foundation exists to close. Since 2004, the San Diego nonprofit has worked to “bridge the weekend food insecurity gap for children that live in impoverished neighborhoods.” Through its Feed the Kids program, started in 2017, it has delivered more than four million nutritious meals.
Kids in our own county, eating on the weekends because someone decided to do something about it.
Two decades. Four million meals.

We show up in the classroom and behind the scenes, the same way we do for clients running their own giving programs. Most recently that was a hands-on day with students building real healthy-eating guides, alongside Trash Panda and Vons.
The organizations doing the most good tend to have the least marketing support. We think that is backwards, so we give this one ours.

Trash Panda, built right here.
Trash Panda is the free app that scans a grocery barcode and tells you what is actually in the box. Food dyes, seed oils, allergens, ultra processed ingredients, all flagged in about a second, with cleaner swaps you can find in the same store.
It was started in 2021 by Julia Putzeys, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and former software product manager who lives in San Diego with her three kids. It has since passed half a million downloads and a million products analyzed.
Trash Panda came out for the Healthy Families Initiative day alongside Vons and High Tech Middle Mesa, and helped the students build snack guides they could actually use.
The day, in photos.
A morning at High Tech Middle Mesa with It’s All About the Kids, Trash Panda and Vons. The students did the work. We brought the cameras and the marketing.
